Senior Commercial Loan Officer

Job Summary:

Manages the commercial loan activity for a specific region by soliciting and developing commercial loan relationships, providing assistance and guidance to subordinate loan officers, and monitoring the regional commercial loan portfolio.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for soliciting and developing a wide variety of commercial loans, both secured and unsecured, for key bank clients.
  • Interviews loan applicants and recommends an appropriate loan structure.
  • Monitors outstanding loan clients.
  • Provides training and guidance to subordinate loan officers.
  • Recommends the approval of loans to supervisor or loan committee.
  • Ensures operational and staffing levels are adequate to meet departmental needs by conducting interviews and hiring staff, complying with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Mentors/develops staff by providing regular feedback on performance, providing opportunities for development, writing performance/development reviews, making recommendations to reward performance exceeding standards and handling employee disciplinary issues in a professional, objective, and impartial manner.

  • Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.

Secondary Functions:

  • Assists in developing loan policies and guidelines.
  • Attends various committee meetings and planning sessions as needed.
  • Contributes to the team effort by working on special projects/reports, performing other job-related duties and accomplishing related results.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 10 years commercial lending experience with an emphasis on new business development required.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or business management required.
  • Strong sales ability with a proven track record in commercial portfolio development/management.
  • Formal credit training and thorough understanding of commercial lending and real estate.
  • Must be a professional with business-like appearance and excellent communication/presentation abilities.
  • Must be able to travel to develop a customer base and have the ability to utilize industry-related software.

Compensation/Benefits:

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Exempt, Full Time, Grade Level 12
