Loan Officer - Commercial Loan Officer

Job Summary:

Solicits, develops, and manages a variety of commercial loans and approves loans within lending authority.
 

Essential Functions:

  • Solicit and develops new commercial loan relationships by interviewing loan applicants, structuring loan terms, and closing loans.
  • Recommends approval of loans to supervisor or loan committee.
  • Responsible for maintaining existing commercial loan relationships.
  • Mentors existing customers to insure satisfaction with commercial products and bank services.
  • Provides training and guidance to financial center staff to understand and refer commercial products.
  • Complies with bank procedures by maintaining accurate lending records and following operational/security guidelines.

Secondary Functions:

  • Works with financial center staff to develop both deposit and lending relationships to maximize cross-selling opportunities.
  • Represents the RES in local community by participating in civic and community events,.
  • Attends various committee meetings and planning sessions as needed.
  • Contributes to the team effort by working on special projects/reports, performing other job-related duties and accomplishing related results.

Physical Demands:

  • Talking--Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word.
  • Hearing-Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication.
  • Seeing-Ability to view a computer screen for an extended period of time and/or identify individuals visually.
  • Walking-Ability to use feet and legs to move from one place to another specifically in narrow/confined spaces.
  • Finger dexterity-Ability to work with fingers for handling coins or other small objects and use a keyboard.
  • Driving-Ability to travel to various/multiple locations or client sites.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Education equivalent to college degree in business related field required.
  • Minimum 5 years banking, with 2 years experience in commercial banking required.
  • Demonstrated strong sales ability or aptitude with proven business development skills.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and organization skills required.
  • Must have a professional, business-like appearance, with excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Motivation and initiative are essential, along with skills in organization and flexibility in scheduling.
  • Must be able to deal with individuals in a tactful congenial and personal manner as not to alienate or antagonize them.
  • Ability to utilize industry related software and travel to develop a customer base.

Compensation/Benefits:

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Exempt, Grade Level 11
